Prayer Shawl

The Prayer Shawl ministry at Holy Apostles creates great fellowship as they come together for a common purpose. Care and the love of knitting and/or crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace.

We welcome all who are willing to knit, crochet, and pray for others.

The group meets at 10am on the first Saturday of the month (Oct–May).

About the prayer shawls

As of December 31, 2021, the ministry has given out more than 1,400 prayer shawls.

A prayer shawl can be crocheted or knitted. It cannot be sold; it is freely given. Persons receiving a shawl have donated yarn or have written checks for the group. When donations of yarn are received they are distributed to members—many members supply their own yarn for their projects.

The group also provides baby blankets to the St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center NICU (neonatal intensive care until). They also make red and white baptismal and confirmation stoles for those being welcomed into the Church during the Easter Vigil Mass.

If you know someone in need of the comfort offered by a prayer shawl, please reach out to Jean Damron 208-571-0423.
