Deacon Malherbe Desert

Deacon

Deacon Malherbe Desert has been married to Marie Martine since 1988. His family are all cradle Catholics, and they are devoted to their Catholic faith. Deacon Malherbe (aka Dcn. Bob) is blessed with five children.

When he felt called to the diaconate, he had a discerning process and time. Since it is the will of God, Deacon Bob was ordained on May 25th, 1996, at Corpus Christi, Texas. One week after his ordination in the diocese of Corpus Christi, he returned to his country Haiti to reunite with his family. There, he spent nine years in the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince doing Health Care Ministries, in caring for the sick in the poorest areas of Port-au-Prince and working with the Missionaries Sisters of Mother Teresa.

Deacon Bob has served in our Parish community, Holy Apostles Parish, since 2005. He is devoted to his duties and ministries as a deacon. He is part of the outreach ministries that serve assisting at Mass and doing communion for our larger Catholic community members who are in retirement homes, independent living facilities and memory care homes.

He has a deep understanding of the ministry of diaconate and loves serving. He does that with the humility of Christ.

During his spare time, he enjoys reading, walking and watching TV, especially sports. When asked where he would like to visit, he said: Europe (Rome and Paris)
